This Saturday past I went to a baby shower, for me! Hooray! We are still going to the crazy-friendly, mostly Nigerian church. There are some things that I could wish for, like other kids, but really, they have been so friendly and welcoming and excited to see us all the time, they really gave us no choice but to be part of the church. To cap it all off, they threw a shower for me!
This is me and my belly at 29 weeks at my shower. :) We had a great time! The food was fantastic, but it was Nigerian, so I made mom taste everything first! Usually, I'm not picky at all (obviously) but I had learned my lesson on Friday at book club! That's right folks! 2 nights out for this mama. At book club I had one piece of pepperoni. One. All night I thought I was going to die from heartburn. I actually ended up sleeping sitting up for a while. So that's why I had mom by my spice-o-meter! I stuck with the fruit, cheese and cashews! It was great!
The gifts were also great! Clothes and blankets and diapers and a bag and chairs! So good! There was even a gift for my husband! A's mom gave him a nose plug and New Zealand scented febreeze! I don't know how you can fit the smell experience of a whole country in one bottle, but I've never been, so I believe them! :) A's dad is from New Zealand, hence the connection there. Smelly diapers are sort of a running joke. You see there are times when M will watch X and A while I go to a doctor's appointment. The first time he did this for me coincided with the end of a 3 day poop strike A was on. Apparently 5 minutes before she went home. I didn't even try to keep the laughter in. My poor husband! But he hasn't quit yet!
