So 4 weeks ago I had a terrible experience. Most of this I've copied from an email I wrote, so I don't know how it's going to look, but we'll give it a go.
It started with a headache, followed by a nap. When I woke up I realized I was bleeding quite a bit. Being 14 weeks pregnant and having had a miscarriage in the past I freaked out. We immediatly left for the hospital. This was around 5:30pm. When we checked in and finally got to a room, I told 3 nurses and 2 doctors that this was my 3rd pregnancy, lost one, one child at home, 14 weeks along. They did blood tests, blood pressure, and hooked me to an iv. Asked if there was clotting (no) asked if there was pain, cramping or back pain (no). So they called in a radiologist so I could have an emergency ultrasound.
At 10pm, after 4 hours of crying and convinced that the baby was gone, I had an ultrasound with a very nice lady. She explained that because this was an emergency ultrasound she would not be showing me anything, or telling me anything. She'd only be taking the pictures and when it's over I'll get taken back to the emerg department and the doctor will give me the results. So she takes a couple pictures and starts asking the same questions, clotting, no, pain, no, cramping, no just a lot of bloody fluid! 1st pregnancy? Has I not been under emotional distress to the extreme at this point I probably would have made a comment about the state of my stomache. X left his marks when he lived in there! But I explained how this was my 3r pregnancy. Any children at home? One, he's 5. And is he a good helper? Oh yeah, he's a great kid. Good, cuz you're gonna need help at home.
And so I start crying again and ask if it's still there? She says yes, there's two. Twins, and they're fine. So I freak out, I'm laughing and crying a jiggling all over the place. I asked if they looked like they were at the 14 week mark and she assured me they do. she managed to take the rest of the pictures and then turned the screen to me and I saw two heads, two bodies and a bunch of legs and arms! Then one kicks in the general direction of the other. Anyway. I get wheeled back to my room, tell Marvin, he goes into a breakdown sort of hysterical laugh which X of course thinks is hilarious at 10:30pm.
The doctor comes in and says, well, it's weird. I don't know why this happened to you, the cervix is tight closed, there is no distress, so maybe they are just re-implanting and some bleeding and fluid release happened. You can go home. If it changes, gets worse, come back.
So starts this adventure. I've got some other tidbits to catch you up on, but we'll see how this post looks before I get carried away! Suffice to say, so far, so good.
Woohoo!! So exciting! Welcome back to blogging after your 2 year break. You want comments? I'll TOTALLY leave comments! :D
